Travel Information

In this section you will find information on how to get to the locations of the AYPT. To ensure a smooth and frictionless arrival process, we kindly ask all participating teams to inform the organizers about when they plan to arrive. Especially teams travelling by train are asked to do so in order to make it possible to organize pick-up at the train station.

Addresses

Participants will be accomodated in the Arcotel Hotel-Kongress Leoben. The address of the hotel is:

Arcotel Hotel-Kongress
Hauptplatz 1
8700 Leoben
(Google-Maps Link to this address.)

The competition itself takes place at the University of Leoben:

Montanuniversität Leoben
Franz-Josef-Straße 18
8700 Leoben
(Google-Maps Link to this address.)

Journey by Car

When traveling by car you should take highway number S6 ("Semmeringschnellstraße"). Independent of which direction you are coming from you should take the exit "Leoben Ost", because the remaining route is easier to find from this exit.
After taking the exit "Leoben Ost" go straigth ahead, following the course of the street ("Kärntner Straße") for approx. 4 kilometers, until the 7th traffic light.
Turn right there, heading for the city center (street name: "Mühltaler Straße").
After about 400 meters you will see the Hotel Arcotel on the left side of the street.

Parking lots in front of the hotel are for boarding and deboarding only.
Permanent parking lots are available either in the underground garage (subject to charges!) next to the hotel or outside the city center (e.g. "Feuerwehrparkplatz", or in "Gösser Straße"). Detailed information can be obtained from the hotel reception.

To make the arrival easier we recommend the online map and route planing tool of Google Maps. Direct links to the destination points are given with the addresses above.

Journey by Train

Teams which arrive by train will be picked up by the organizers at Leoben Main Station, if they report their arrival time in advance.

Detailed information about trains to Leoben is available through the online train schedule query system of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) (available in English) or via the train information service telephone (number: 05-1717, within Austria).

Journey from Abroad (via Vienna International Airport)

This section contains some additional information for teams from abroad, especially those who will arrive via Vienna International Airport:
Unfortunately we cannot offer a pick-up service directly from the airport. Therefore teams are asked to continue their journey by train; since the southern Viennese railway station in German: "Wien Südbahnhof") is closed due to construction work, trains towards Leoben depart from the station Wien Meidling.

There are multiple ways of getting from Vienna International Airport to the railway station "Wien Meidling". There are regular bus connections and also connections via train (suburban railway). For groups with luggage it may be advisable to take a special airport taxi. The costs for suburban railway or bus are around 6 Euro per person. The costs for taxi should be between 30 and 50 Euro (depending on the size of the taxi). (No responsibility is taken for the correctness of this price information.)

Detailed information about trains to Leoben is available through the online train schedule query system of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) (available in English) or via the train information service telephone (number: 05-1717, within Austria).

Furthermore we want to point out that when travelling by train there is a group discount if 6 persons (or more) are travelling together. When purchasing the ticket, make sure to clearly and explicitely state how much persons of the group are younger than 19 years, because that will lead to further discount.

Delays, Problems, etc.

In case you experience any problems, delays, etc. during your journey you can contact the organizers through one of the following (mobile) phone numbers:

Note: These numbers are for dialling from a mobile phone. When dialling from a hardwired phone (within Austria) dial "0" instead of "+43".
